Mother Made was born in April 2021, the creation of best friends Jessica Clarke and Emily Blanchett. Rooted in ancient fungus wisdom and guided by modern wellness, the brand emerged from a shared passion for natural healing and a growing frustration at the lack of clean, potent mushroom products available in on the market.
For Jessica, a former international model of Ngapuhi and Te Rarawa descent, the journey toward Mother Made was deeply personal. After years in the fashion industry – walking for Victoria’s Secret, Calvin Klein, and Armani – she began exploring the world of medicinal mushrooms while living in New York and LA, drawn to their powerful effects on focus, energy, sleep and stress.
Inspired by her Maori worldview, where fungi are seen as unseen messengers of the forest, Jessica saw mushrooms not just as supplements but as sacred tools for reconnection – with nature, with self, with heritage. Mother Made is Jessica’s way of honouring Papatuanuku, the Earth Mother, offering a clean, organic alternative to synthetic health products.
The brand’s hero blends – AM and PM – feature functional fungi like lion’s mane, reishi, cordyceps and chaga, dual-extracted for maximum potency, with no fillers or grain. Designed to slot seamlessly into daily rituals, Mother Made is as intentional as it is beautiful – while retaining one foot firmly in the ‘fun’ camp – the backstage area at Glastonbury Festival was flooded with Jessica’s celebrity friends wearing t-shirts proclaiming I Love Mushrooms.
